Speeding in St Johns Avenue

Residents of St John’s Avenue contacted Councillor Matthew Jones with concerns about persistent speeding along the road, particularly at school start and finish times when Baxter College traffic is at its heaviest. They were worried about both safety for students and the general disruption caused by fast-moving vehicles in a residential area. He took these concerns seriously and requested a formal speed survey to assess traffic volumes and average speeds. It was important that the survey covered peak times, especially around school drop-off and pick-up hours, to get an accurate picture of the risks residents had described.
Councillor Jones will be reviewing the findings in detail and pressing for the appropriate next steps, whether that means traffic calming measures, enforcement or other safety improvements, he will continue to work with the Council’s Road Safety Team to ensure St John’s Avenue is made safer for both local families and Baxter College students.
